PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst, which is capable of decomposing to reduce particularly NOx in harmful components in a Diesel engine exhaust gas and burning to remove a carbon based fine particle, an unburnt hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide or the like, and a purifying method of exhaust gas using the same. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst is formed by covering a fire resistant three dimensional structural body with a catalyst composition composed of (A) a platinum- carried fire resistant inorganic oxide powder made by depositing platinum and a catalytic active oxide of at least one kind of a metal selected from a group composed of tungsten, antimony, molybdenum, nickel, vanadium, manganese, iron, bismuth, cobalt, zinc and alkaline earth metal on a 1st fire resistant inorganic oxide powder and (B) a 2nd fire resistant inorganic oxide powder. The catalyst for decomposing nitrogen oxide containing 5-50wt.% platinum based on the 1st fire resistant inorganic powder and the purifying method of the Diesel engine exhaust gas using this catalyst are provided. |
