PURPOSE:To extract rugged parts of a picture graphic form without performing any complicated software process by producing a profile figure viewed in the horizontal and vertical directions of the picture graphic form and by executing AND or exclusive OR operation of picture data. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal sent from a television camera 1 is made binary, and inputted to a coordinate extraction processor 4, a picture memory 5 or a picture processor 3, which are controlled by a CPU6. The processor 4 obtains the maximum and minimum values in X and Y coordinates. A picture arithmetic part consists of the processors 3 and 4 and the memory 5. The data read out from two units of picture memory 100 and 110 of the memory 5 are inputted to arithmetic units 130 and 140. AND arithmetic of picture data is executed in the arithmetic unit 130, and a projected part of a profile graphic form is obtained. Exclusive OR arithmetic is executed in the arithmetic unit 140, and a recessed part of the profile graphic form is obtained; therefore complicated software processes become unnecessary.
