PURPOSE: To obtain a former preventing wrapping paper passing through the former from having 'stripe'. CONSTITUTION: A former is provided with a guide part 2 receiving wrapping paper D being continuously supplied and a base part 1. In the base part 1, side walls 1a are erected from a bottom part 1b in the view from rearward in a wrapping paper feed direction X, and an edge part 1c of the side wall 1a is raised obliquely frontward in the wrapping paper feed direction for curving and turning wrapping paper D received at a predetermined angleαto the guide part 2 in the view from sideward in the wrapping paper feed direction X into approximately a U shape and supplying the wrapping paper D to a wrapping device body A. In the plan view of the bottom part 1b of the base part 1, a rear end 1b' is rounded at both ends 1b" in the width direction thereof, and a connecting part between the bottom part 1b and the side wall 1a is rounded.
