PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new peptide useful for treating hypertension, having inhibitory activity against angiotensinase, by treating raw material sesame with a hydrolase and fractionating the hydrolyzate by column chromatography. CONSTITUTION: This angiotensinase inhibiting peptide comprises a pentapeptide composed of an amino acid sequence of the formula Met Leu Pro Ala Tyr and a hexapeptide composed of an amino acid sequence of the formula Val Leu Tyr Arg Asp Gly, has inhibiting activity against angiotensinase and blood pressure decreasing action and is useful as an antihypertensive medicine and a medicine for treating and preventing hypertension, capable of being orally administered. The peptide is obtained by treating raw material sesame with a hydrolase to give a hydrolyzed substance of sesame protein and treating the hydrolyzed substance by a column chromatography. |
