PURPOSE: To obtain a curable water-based resin composition having high contact properties and can give a cured film having high-level adhesiveness, heat resistance and water resistance. CONSTITUTION: A curable water-based resin composition comprising water and a water-based resin matrix obtained by emulsion-polymerizing 40-95 pts.wt. radical-polymerizable monomer component essentially consisting of an aromatic unsaturated compound, a 1-12 C alkyl ester of anα,β-unsaturated mono- carboxylic acid and acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid in the presence of 5-60 pts.wt. epoxy resin and giving a film having a Tg of 20 to -40 deg.C.
