PURPOSE: To suppress the deterioration in catalyst activities and efficiently obtain the subject propylene by using a catalyst containing a chromium oxide supported on silicon oxide. CONSTITUTION: (A) Propane, together with (B) a gas containing carbon dioxide, is brought into contact with (C) a catalyst containing (i) a chromium oxide supported on (ii) silicon oxide at 500-650 deg.C to afford the objective propylene. Furthermore, a catalyst prepared by mixing and stirring, e.g. the powdery component (ii) with an aqueous solution obtained by dissolving the component (i) such as chromium nitrate, drying the resultant mixture at 110 deg.C and then baking the dried mixture at 550 deg.C in air for 3hr is used as the component (C). The mixed gas of the components (A) with (B) at 1:1 molar ratio of the components (A):(B) and 93Nml/min flow rate is preferably brought into contact the component (C) at 550 deg.C, etc. The content of the component (i) in the component (C) is preferably 3-30wt.%. |
