PURPOSE: To obtain a primer compsn. which can form a highly transparent primer layer between a substrate and a hard coating layer by compounding a specific polyvinyl acetal, a specific cross-linker, a finely particulate inorg. substance, an org. solvent, and water. CONSTITUTION: This primer compsn. comprises polyvinyl acetal represented by formula I (wherein R<1> is H or a 1-20C satd. hydrocarbon group; a and b are each 10-90; and c is 0-10 provided a+b+c is 100), a cross-linker such as a hydrolyzable organosilane compd. represented by formula II (wherein R<2> and R<3> are each an optionally substd. hydrocarbon group; X<1> is a hydrolyzable group; and d and e are each 0-3) or formula III (wherein R<4> is a 2-8C org. group; R<5> and R<6> are each an optionally substd. 1-8C hydrocarbon group; X<2> is a hydrolyzable group; and f and g are each 0-2) or its hydrolyzate, a finely particulate inorg. substance, an org. solvent, and water and enables the production of a plastic lens excellent in resistances to impact, heat, scratch, and abrasion. |
