Toothbrush whose active elements are displaced automatically, of the type comprising a body of which a part 1 is intended to be gripped by the user and acts as a case for means 4 permitting communication of an automatic displacement to the active members 3 arranged at the other end 2 of the body. It is characterised in that at least the end 3 of the active element 3 receives a continuous displacement, substantially a figure-of-eight displacement, whose amplitude D is, on average, equal to the width of two teeth 8, 9, this displacement being formed so that, when the said brush is in action, the active elements 3 are displaced from the base of the teeth towards their end in the central part of the figure-of-eight circuit and so that, during their displacement in the opposite direction, they are deflected inwards close to the base of the said teeth. <IMAGE>
