PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more economical method and apparatus for producing an optical lens from a polymerizable synthetic material. SOLUTION: A mold is assembled in order to produce an optical lens and filled with a molding material and at least the polymn. of the molding material is started. These three operations are performed within the same apparatus and the apparatus includes at least two jaws 12', 12" and these jaws surround the edges of two molding shells 14A, 14B in order to form a mold 13 and at least one of the jaws is movable. Adaptation includes the production of an ophthalmic lens.
