NCO-TERMINATED PREPOLYMER AND WATER-FOAMABLE, SELF-SKINNING POLYURETHANE FOAM MADE BY USING THE PREPOLYMER

PURPOSE: To prepare an NCO-terminated prepolymer which can provide a self- skinning polyurethane foam having excellent properties, touch, and moldability by using water as a foaming agent by using particular polyol and isocyanate. CONSTITUTION: This prepolymer is prepd. by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with a polyether polyol having a mol.wt. of 500 to 10000 or a mixture of a polyether polyol having a mol.wt. of 500 to 10000 and a low mol.-wt. polyol having a mol.wt. of 62 to less than 500, wherein at least one of the polyether polyols is a prepolymer contg. 10 to 100mol.% ethylene oxide and a functionality of 2 to 6. Pref. organic polyisocyanates include diphenylmethane diisocyanate, polyphenylmethane polyisocyanate, and carbodiimide-modified polyisocyanate.
