PURPOSE: To obtain a herbicidal composition for paddy fields, safe for paddy rice and capable of effectively controlling weeds in the paddy fields by application before and after transplantation of the paddy rice and seeding by combining two compounds different in weeding mechanism and weeding spectrum preferably at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION: This herbicidal composition for paddy fields is obtained by using 3-[2,3-dichloro-5-(2-propynyloxy)phenyl]-5-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3,4- oxadiazol-2(3H)-one represented by formula I and 6-methyl-3-[1-methyl-1-(3,5- dichlorophenyl)ethyl]-5-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-4H-1,3dioxazin-4-one represented by formula II in combination. The compound represented by formula II is preferably formulated in an amount of 0.05-20 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. compound represented by formula I in the composition. The composition is capable of selectively controlling a wide range of weeds in the paddy fields and the herbicidal efficacy thereof is synergistically increased as compared with that in the case of single use thereof. Thereby, the composition can be applied in a low dose. The weeding spectrum is further extended. |
