PURPOSE: To obtain a T lymphocyte, capable of expressing an interleukin-10 (IL-10) and useful for preventing and treating diabetes. CONSTITUTION: This recombinant retrovirus vector is obtained by inserting a gene coding IL-10 or its derivative and a promoter sequence for expressing the gene in order to express the gene into a retrovirus vector having at least long terminal repeat (LTR) sequences at the 5'- and 3'-terminals, a primer- binding sequence, a polypurine sequence and a packaging signal and deficient in at least a part of a gag, a pot and an env structural genes. Furthermore, this cell is prepared by transducing the recombinant retrovirus vector into a packaging cell having the gag, oil and env structural genes and the recombinant retrovirus is produced from the resultant cell. This T lymphocyte is obtained by infecting a T lymphocyte capable of specifically recognizing a pancreatic Langerhans' island β cell with the recombinant retrovirus. |
