PURPOSE: To obtain a ceramic-sprayed roll c:ausing no debonding of the spray film thereon even under large pressurizing force, by providing the surface of a roll shell with a buffer layer via a substrate treatment layer followed by multi-pass spraying of powder on the surface. CONSTITUTION: Both edge faces of a cylindrical coast steel roll shell 16 are engaged with disc heads 18 each with a shaft 17 projected on the center of the outer side followed by fixation with locking bolts 19 to constitute a roll body 20. The nictkel-plated surface of the roll shell 16 is then coated with nickel car aluminum alloy via a substrate treatment layer 22 formed by shot blasting to provide a buffer layer 23 capable of absorbing thermal expansion difference. Subsequently, titanium dioxide-incorporated alumina-based ceramic powder is subjected to multi-pass spray on the buffer layer 23 so that the thickness per pass fall within the range of 10-30μm while preheating the target surface at 75-99 deg.C to effect formation of a ceramic spray film 21, thereby the objective ceramic-spraved roll is obtained. |
