PURPOSE: To obtain the a composition useful for preventing diseases of oral cavity, having excellent antifungal activities against dental caries and fungi causing periodontal diseases and improved safety. CONSTITUTION: This composition for oral cavity comprises an extract of carrot with an organic solvent and/or an extract of Alpinia galanga with an organic solvent and the purified. The composition for oral cavity comprises extracted or synthesized caryophyllene oxide. The extract, for example, is obtained by extraction at room temperature or under heating for 1 hour or about one day. The amount of caryophyllene oxide as an active ingredient added to the composition is 0.0001-5wt.%, especially 0.001-3wt.%. The composition is useful as a toothpaste, liquid dentifrice, pasta for oral cavity, gargling tablet and troche. |
