CONSTITUTION: A rectangular muddy water type box-shaped shield excavator C is combined with one side of a disk-shaped shield excavator B, thereby forming a shield excavator A. At first, a preceding shield excavator A1 is launched from a launching shaft toward an arrival shaft, thereby excavating with a disk cutter 1 and a rotary cutter 11. A disk-shaped segment S1 is divided into a plurality of parts with a host shield excavator B1 while it is divided with a box-shaped excavator C1 into a plurality of parts in the longitudinal direction and each of fitted box-shaped segments S1 is assembled. Then, a succeeding shield excavator A2 is driven while a disk-shaped segment S2 and the box-shaped segment S2 are assembled so that the disk-shaped segment may be joined with the box-shaped segment, thereby forming a square-shaped space and excavating the inside and constructing a large space for an underground structure K.
