PURPOSE: To prevent the interlock of a speed change part by the operation time lag of a differential limit clutch. CONSTITUTION: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission has a differential mechanism 22 for coupling the output discs 3 and 5 of two sets of toroidal speed change parts 6 and 7 with each other and driving them, and a differential limit clutch 26 provided between the output discs. Since the fastening force of the differential limit clutch 26 is controlled to be smaller, the larger the variation to the objective gear ratio obtained from velocity, throttle aperture, etc., is, in the case that there is a possibility of the difference of the gear ratio becoming large as in speed change operation, it turns out to loosen the differential limiting force of the differential limit clutch in advance, and can prevent the interlock of the speed change pert by the operation time lag of the actuator. |
