PURPOSE: To control the occurrence of abnormal sound by controlling the backlash of the composing members of an operating mechanism in a tilt steering device. CONSTITUTION: In a tilt steering device equipped with a tilt bracket 12 tiltably assembled with a member on a car body side; a regulating means (a ratchet 21, a pole 22, a backup plate 23) for regulating the tilting of the tilt bracket 12 in a tilted state and allowing it in a released state; a regulation energizing means (a coil spring 24) for energizing the regulating means so as to turn into the regulated state; and an operating mechanism (an operating lever 25) for actuating the regulating means to turn into the released state against the regulation energizing means, the composing member of the operating mechanism is energized toward a releasing direction by a release energizing means (a torsion spring 26) having energizing force weaker than the energizing force of the regulation energizing means. |
