PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep high quality printed image at the elevation of temperature, by a method wherein a step for detecting both the internal temperature of an ink jet printer and the density of stored image to be printed, and a step for selecting either one between single pass cover printing mode and double pass checkerboard printing mode on the basis of the detected temperature and image density, are provided. SOLUTION: The temperature near a print head is detected with a temperature sensor 16 so as to select either single pass 100% cover full printing mode or double pass checkerboard printing mode at the start of each swath. The cover printing mode is the standard printing mode of the ink jet printer or the mode, in which the whole printing swath is printed by one pass or all the desired dots are arranged on recording medium by a single pass on the basis of the print data sent from a controller 22. In the checkerboard printing mode, two passes are used for each printing swath. As a result, the dots, which are adjacent to each other, are jetted by separate passes on recording medium, resulting in preventing blurring or mixing of inks from occurring. |
