<p>An applicator (10, 10a) has a ratchet mechanism for dispensing material from a single or multiple barrel container (58). The ratchet mechanism includes a clutch (28, 34) that substantially prevents movement of a plunger (18, 18a) of the applicator (10, 10a) whenever a resistance to plunger movement is greater than a certain value. As a consequence, bursting of the container (58), or damage to components of the applicator (10, 10a), is substantially avoided.</p> |
