The invention concerns an implantable medical device comprised of tubular wire (14). In a preferred embodiment the invention comprises a stent or graft (12) formed from spirally wound, tubular wire (14), where the stent or graft is capable of being stressed prior to implantation to reduce the radius of curvature (5) of the wire to put the stent or graft (12) in a restrained condition.
