<p>The S/N of a reproduced signal can be improved by using a single-layer recording medium having vertical magnetic anisotropy without a base layer of a soft magnetic material, and a shield MR head. In this case, too, an isolated reproduction waveform is a dipulse waveform in the same way as when a ring head is used, and a processing suitable for the dipulse waveform is necessary. This can be accomplished by converting a reproduction waveform to a symmetric single-peak waveform through an RC differentiator having a suitable time constant, and then sending it to a discriminator, if desired, through a pre-amplifier and a zero-crossing detector.</p> |
