The vehicle seat has a base unit (12) and a seat part (14), with the spring device (42) mounted between the two parts. The spring device comprises two tension springs (32,36) located approximately parallel to each other. One of the springs (32) is permanently fixed to both the base and the seat parts, and the second spring (36) is fixed temporarily between the two parts via a fixture. A pair of third springs form an obtuse angle between each other and the first spring in the unloaded seat condition.
