Salt melt-drilling process to sink 2 m boreholes for highly active waste disposal

Salt-melt drilling process for continuous or intermittent, fully automatic sinking, also produces a solidified bore hole casing after penetration. The process constructs large dia. perpendicular boreholes for the final storage of highly radioactive or toxic material. This original process makes optimal use of the spherical physical characteristics of molten salts, e.g. the high electrical and thermal conductivity, low viscosity and wide molten temp. range. The material is used optimally, as a multi-functional working medium for thermal- and hydraulic fracturing, melting, transfer, consolidation, casing and control.
