The damped mounting has an upper mounting (2) on an elastic block (3) whose outer edges are bonded to a tapering metal support cylinder (4) whose upper edges are secured to the outer housing and with the lower section tapering to a minimum diameter before turning outwards to the housing. A hydraulic chamber is enclosed between the inside of the elastic block and a movable diaphragm (13). A secondary hydraulic chamber (19), connected to the main chamber, is positioned between the tapering cylinder and the outer housing. The damping characteristics are changed by a solenoid control for the flexible membrane. The secondary damping chamber enables large amplitudes to be damped without increasing the size of the system.
