PURPOSE:To save the load time of a printing pattern, by checking whether the printing pattern for printing input character code is already stored in a font memory and, if not, taking out the printing pattern for the character code from an external file to store the same in the font memory. CONSTITUTION:A control means 2 refers to a code table 3 in order to check whether the printing pattern for a printing code 1 is already stored in a font memory 4. As a result, if the printing pattern corresponding to the printing code is not stored, the control means 2 reads said printing pattern from an external file 6 to store the same in the font memory 4. Thereafter, the printing order to the printing code 1 is sent to the printing means 5 of a printer and the code table 3 is updated to finalize the storing of the printing pattern for the printing code 1. When the character pattern for a character code 1 is already stored, the control means 2 immediately sends the printing code 1 to the printing means 5 of the printer. By this method, the load time of the printing pattern can be saved.
