PURPOSE:To respond to inquiry in a wide range by using rules of symbolic logic indicating relations among processing procedures expressed with symbols to perform the processing and synthesizing and outputting automatically steps of processing procedures. CONSTITUTION:A supporting device consists of an input/output part 1, a supporting processing part 2, and a storage part 3. A terminology table shown in a table I and a procedure table shown in a table II are provided in the data base of the storage part 3. In the terminology table, symbols and sentences indicating methods have correspondence relations of 1:1. The procedure rule table indicates logical relations among said methods. Requests of an operator are synthesized to generate symbols on a basis of the terminology table, and a rule which can be applied to each symbol of the right side of the request is searched on a basis of the procedure rule table, and results are restacked in a response stack, and response sentences are synthesized and outputted.
