The tool body (1) of the chip removal tool (2) consists of a base part (3) together with a support part (6) connected to it by two cramping screws (4) and a positioning pin (5). The support part is located in a cut-out section (7) of the base part which attaches to the shaft (8) for connection to the machine. Further cut-outs (13) provide swallow tail locations for the similarly shaped feet of the cylindrical insert holder (10) which subtends an angle ( beta ) which locates within a sector angle ( alpha ) which equals 90 deg.. beta is less than alpha so that the circumference from the foot part (16) of the insert holder is shorter than the circumference of the dovetail guide of the cut-out section. The insert holder carries the indexable insert (17) whose projecting cutting edges (18) cuts the workpiece (19). A scale (23) is attached to the support part (6) which allows for precise positioning of the insert holder relative to the tool longitudinal axis (26) by an adjustment screw (27) fixed in a bore (29) in the body. The top (31) of the screw is fitted with a further scale around its periphery. By turning the adjustment screw, the insert holder can rotate when the angle.
