High temp. superconductor normal conductor superconductor contact for e.g. SQUID

The high temperature superconductor normal conductor superconductor contact has a metallic layer (1) to connect two superconducting layer regions (2). The contacts act as electrodes and they are separated by a substrate step having a flank (3) on a substrate (4). The flank is covered by an additional layer (5) in such a way that growth of superconducting material on the flank is prevented. The contact is produced by applying the material used to form the additional layer on the step of the substrate in the region of the flank, so that the flank is covered on the additional layer. The material is partially removed from both substrate regions and then the HTSC material is applied to the electrodes and the electrodes connected to each other by applying the metallic layer. LaAlO3 is pref. used as the material to form the additional layer.
