Method for the preparation of ivermectin by selective hydrogenation of avermectins with the help of rhodium complex and phosphine based on hydrazine, which is obtained by reaction of rhodium salt, hydrazine or hydrazine salt and terciar phosphine or rhodium complex and phosphine with hydrazine or hydrazine salt. This reaction runs under the temperature from 60 to 100 C and under the pressure of the scale 0.1 to 15 MPa, with proviso that aromatic hydrocarbon are used as diluents.
