The present invention relates to a process for preparing alkylpolyglycoside compositions. Specifically the process is a direct synthesis producing compositions of highly polymerized alkylpolyglycosides in high yield. The invention further relates to alkylpolyglycoside compositions having enhanced surfactant properties.
