<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for manufacturing a recording/reproducing composite thin film magnetic head suitable for high density recording in which the recording track width can be controlled accurately and a reproducible process can be designed. SOLUTION: At the time of manufacturing a recording/reproducing composite thin film magnetic head, an upper insulation layer 9 is formed of photoresist. An upper magnetic layer 6 is formed thereon and subjected to patterning at a width approximating the width of track before producing a pole chip 10 by ion beam etching.</p> |
