PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an excellent and spoil-less set of pile of printed sheets of paper by a method wherein individual spacing substance particles formed of a spacing substance being solid at least at ambient temperature are applied in the shape of spots onto the surface of the sheet of paper and anchored thereon. SOLUTION: Spherical or drop-shaped wax particles 2 having sizes of 5-30μm are used as a spacing substance being solid at least at an ambient temperature. The wax particles 2 are mixed, for instance, in dispersion varnish 3 used for beautification treatment of the surface of a sheet 1 of paper, in the weight ratio of 1:10 to 1:100. Application of the wax particles 2 onto the sheet 1 of paper printed with ink 5 beforehand is performed in a desired spotlike distribution by a varnishing device. In this case, the varnish 3 applied onto the sheet 1 for beautification functions like an adhesive for the wax particles 2, that is, like an adhesive for fixing the wax particles 2 on the surface of the sheet 1 and anchoring them thereon after the varnish 3 is dried.
