摘要 PURPOSE: To make it possible to prevent the decrease of a driving margin according to the resting or driving of a liquid crystal display element and to well maintain the display performance of the liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION: Scanning electrodes 12a and information electrodes 12b are respectively formed on a pair of substrates 11a, 11b. These electrodes 12a, 12b are respectively coated with insulating films 13a, 13b and orientation control films 14a, 14b and these substrates are stuck to each other, by which a cell is formed. The cell formed in such a manner is put into a Petri dish previously sprayed with a fluorine based silane coupling agent and is held for six hours in its satd. atmosphere, by which the orientation control films 14a, 14b are subjected to a boundary activation treatment. Pyrimidine based mixed liquid crystals are thereafter injected into the cell. The drastic decrease of the driving margin is prevented by the boundary activating treatment even if the liquid crystal display element is rested or driven over a long time.
