PURPOSE: To lower transfer voltage, to improve transfer efficiency, image quality and durability and to prevent the occurrence of filming by incorporating a specific conductive material into the surface layer of an intermediate transfer medium for transferring a transfer image on a photoreceptor to paper, etc. CONSTITUTION: The surface layer of the intermediate transfer medium 20 on which the image formed on the electrophotographic photoreceptor 1 of a rotary drum type is transferred and which transfers this transferred image onto the paper, etc., contains the conductive material. The longest diameter of the conductive material is specified to 1 and the shortest diameter to >=4 and the longest diameter is specified to 1 to 80μm. The volume resistivity of the conductive material is preferably <=10<5>Ω.cm and more particularly preferably 10<-2> to 10<3>Ω.cm. The resistance of the surface layer of the intermediate transfer medium 20 added with the conductive material is preferably 10 to 10<13>Ωand more particularly preferably 10<-2> to 10<10>Ω. Further, the amt. of the conductive material to be added is preferably specified to 5 to 80wt.% of the total weight of the surface layer of the intermediate transfer medium 20.
