<p>PURPOSE: To provide a novel electron source having long service life and high reliability, and an image forming device as well as an electron beam generation device using the source, allowing the easy selection of an element and the easy control of an electron emission amount under the application of simple constitution, and ensuring freedom from the misalignment of a position for emitting light, a discharge or the like attributable electrification. CONSTITUTION: A thin film 18 is formed, so as to cover element electrodes 16 and 17, and the same potential is applied to the electrodes 16 and 17. Also, the prescribed voltage is applied to an upper electrode 20. An insulating gap 18a is thereby formed around an electron emitting element. Then, different levels of potential are applied to the electrodes 16 and 17, thereby forming an electron emitting section 23.</p> |
