OPTICAL TWO-WAY TRANSMISSION METHOD AND EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE: To provide optical two-way transmission method and equipment using an inexpensive fiber type mirror and a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION: In this optical two-way transmitter mainly used in a subscriber's line for transmitting optical signals in two ways through an optical fiber 1 between a subscriber side and a telephone station side, the fiber type mirror 9 provided on the subscriber side for reflecting a part of signals sent from the telephone station side and the piezoelectric element 6 for imparting stress to the optical fiber 1 are provided and the piezoelectric element 6 subjects reflected light from the fiber type mirror 9 to intensity modulation. Thus, the need of a light source for a subscriber and a wavelength branching filter is eliminated and two-way transmission is attained by using the inexpensive fiber type mirror 9 and the piezoelectric element 6.
