PURPOSE: To provide a tunable optical fiber which is low in loss and necessitates smaller number of optical switches. CONSTITUTION: This tunable optical fiber is composed of an array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 21 having an input waveguide group 23 consisting of waveguides 23a to 23p, an output waveguide group 27 consisting of waveguides 27a to 27p, slab waveguides 24, 25 and an array waveguide diffraction grating 26, optical fiber transmission paths 1, 2, 1×4 optical switches 44 for connecting either one of the waveguide of the input waveguide group 23 to the optical fiber transmission path 1 and 1×4 optical switches 54 for selecting either one waveguide of the output waveguide group 27. |
