A buck-topology switching power supply (100) combines a plurality, n, of signals (111, 121, 131) from a like number (n) of substantially direct-current power sources by means of a single inductor (150). As k varies from 1 to n, a controller (170) acts to couple each signalk in sequence to the inductor input (140) for an"on" duty period tk at a predetermined switching frequency, f, thus forming at the inductor output (160) an output signal having an output voltage Vo and an output power Po. Under static load conditions, the controller holds the corresponding duty period tk for each signalk at a substantially constant value. Under dynamic load conditions, however, the controller dynamically adjusts the corresponding duty period tk in order to maintain the fractional power contribution Pk for each signalk relative to the output power Po at a predetermined value.
