PURPOSE: To control impact load from an air bag main body, to which a seater is subjected, and absorb inertial force applied to the seater by forming a gas discharging port discharging gas to the inside of the air bag main body at a position corresponding to the forward direction of a vehicle in a state that the air bag main body is swelled up. CONSTITUTION: An air bag main body (AB) 16 is formed out of main ground fabrics 21 and 22 at both right and left sides of it, and of band shaped side surface ground fabric 25 connecting the outer peripheries of the main ground fabrics. An opening 27 for a gas generator is formed at one side of the main ground fabric 21. And a discharging port 16a discharging gas to the inside of the AB 16 is formed in the band shaped side surface ground fabric 25, and a discharging port 16a is formed in a position corresponding to the forward direction of a vehicle indicated by an arrow mark F in a state that the AB is swelled up. Namely, when the gas generator is initiated, gas within the AB 16 is discharged in the forward direction of the vehicle indicated by an arrow mark F out of the discharging port 16a. By this constitution, gas is discharged to a space in a cabin mostly parted from a crew, impact by the air bag itself to which a seater is subjected is controlled, and inertia force applied to the seater is thereby absorbed. |
