PURPOSE: To provide a programmable controller removing an application restricting condition due to the small number of points by increasing the capacity of an index register. CONSTITUTION: At the time of receiving an instruction for selecting an index register bank, a CPU saves the contents of an area 1-2 to be used for operation as an index register to an index register bank (k) indicated by the contents of an area 1-3 for storing a selected index register bank, transfers the contents of an index register bank (m) indicated by an instruction to the area 1-2 as shown by an arrow (6-2) and then stores the bank (m) in the area 1-3 as shown by an arrow (6-3). Consequently the index register is switched from the bank (k) to the bank (m). |
