PURPOSE: To satisfactorily destaticize a transfer drum even when an environment changes. CONSTITUTION: The transfer drum comprises an elastic body 22 formed on a core iron 21, and a dielectric transfer sheet 23 formed on the surface of the elastic body. A toner image on a photoconductive drum 1 is transferred onto a transfer material by attracting the transfer material to the surface of the transfer drum and then applyint it a transfer voltage. The transfer drum, after the separation of the transfer material therefrom, is destaticized by a destaticizing roller 9. The resistance of the transfer sheet 23 changes with the temperature/humidity of the atmosphere, so that unsatisfactory destaticization occurs at certain temperature/humidity when the transfer drum is destaticized at a fixed voltage. To eliminate this, the destaticization voltage of a destaticization power source 17 is set via a controller 16 based on the detection result of a temperature/humidity sensor 15. |
