The invention relates to a concrete plate, consisting of a concrete material, and a process for producing it. The plate is produced by casting a concrete mix in a mould and pressing the concrete mix in the mould. According to the invention, at least two concrete layers, consisting of different mixes, are cast on top of each other in this connection. The water/cement ratio in the mix which forms the supporting layer of the plate is low as compared with the water/cement ratio in the mix which forms the outer layer. The outer layer-forming mix employed is a concrete mix which contains, calculated on the quantity of binder cement, approx. 1-20%, preferably approx. 5-15%, of finely divided, calcined kaolin. The layers which are cast on top of each other are pressed with the same compression in order to form a 2-layer press plate. The invention achieves a concrete plate which can be used for the facades of buildings and for interior fittings and similar representational uses. Whereas the plates are in the same class as many natural stone plates with regard to their density, they are considerably easier to colour than are these natural stone plates.
