INITIAL EXCITATION OF SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR

PURPOSE:To make diode and current adjustment resistance unnecessary by using either thyristor element of a main side arm of a thyristor converter forming an excitation main circuit to make the initial excitation. CONSTITUTION:For example, either thyristor element TH1 of a positive(P) side arm of an excitation circuit is used for an initial excitation circuit. In the case of voltage raise of a synchronous generator 3, a contact(C) is closed, but, at the same time, the thyristor TH1 is ignited by a voltage controller 1, and the initial excitation current is supplied. When voltage of the synchronous generator 3 reaches a specific value, the contact(C) is released. After that, normal voltage control is made through the voltage controller 1 and a thyristor converter 2. According to the constitution, the initial excitation circuit can be simplified.
