Improvements introduced into public information booths, by computerized map reader, basically characterized by the fact that there is a computer unit in an appropriate position inside the booth, consisting of a stand-alone unit that includes its alarm system, this computer unit being provided with a television monitor on the front for displaying the street map requested and receiving operating instructions. Basically characterized by the fact that beneath the television monitor on a designed horizontal plane there is an alphanumeric keyboard, preferably of the membrane type, which is used to enter data into the computer. The computer unit includes in its upper part some adjacent slots used for inserting a bank card, and also includes a second coin slot, having a slot at the front below the alphanumeric keyboard for obtaining the map. <IMAGE>
