ELASTOMERIC NONWOVEN FIBER FLUID FILTER MEDIUM

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove granular contaminants from fluid by randomly arraying small-diameter fibers formed by melting and spinning a thermoplastic elastomer and imparting uniform stretch properties in all directions thereof, thereby constituting a fluid filter. CONSTITUTION: The filter medium for removing the granular contaminants from the fluid is manufactured by randomly arraying the small-diameter fibers formed by melting and spinning the thermoplastic elastomer and imparting the uniform stretch properties in all directions thereof. The filtration characteristic of this filter medium is regardless of the sufficient stretch to increase the surface area of the filter medium at least by 10%. The more specific example of the elastomer constituting the small-diameter fibers consisting of the thermoplastic elastomer includes elastomeric polyurethane, elastomeric polyester, elastomeric polyamide or the like.
