To give a material bond between stamped workpieces, with light beam welding, within the stamping sequence of the stamper (32) a light beam is directed at the surface of the stamped section on the stack (42) of stampings with at least an initial light beam pulse with an energy content during an initial time span, to evaporate the applied coating. After exposure to the beam, the evaporated coating is allowed to disperse for a second time span. A second light beam pulse is triggered, with an energy content, for a third time span so that, at this point, welding takes place. Also claimed is an appts. with a laser unit (45-57) with a focusing system (16) linked to the upper (34) or lower (21) tool. The control (47) has an electronic cam system for light to be generated through the laser source (45) according to the angular setting of the eccentric shaft giving the state of the stamping action. This controls the operation to deliver at least two laser pulses during the stamping cycle. |
