<p>PURPOSE: To provide a high-reliability, low-cost, and high-image-quality image formation device by actuating a liquid crystal shutter array with simple drive without applying any high frequency voltage. CONSTITUTION: A positive super twisted nematic type liquid crystal shutter using a crystal cell of 10<12>Ωcm or more in volume resistivity is normally set in a light shielding state by applying always positive or negative voltage to the liquid crystal cell, when an image signal is input, the forementioned application voltage is stopped, and very weak voltage for cancelling coloring of the liquid crystal shutter is applied so as to be set into a light transmission state. Heat generation and operation inferiority of an LSI for driving liquid crystal are suppressed and the cost of the liquid crystal shutter module is reduced by minimizing of the chip size of the LSI so that a high-reliability and low-cost image formation device can be provided, and the very weak voltage application for cancelling coloring of the liquid crystal shutter improves color purity of the liquid crystal shutter with a color filter so that a high-quality color image formation device can be provided.</p> |
