摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To obtain a packet traffic multi-stage relay system in which the connection of the frame multiplexer is revised flexibly. CONSTITUTION: Frame multiplexers 1, 22, 12 are provided with a function of multiplexing a frame from a channel having been already multiplexed with another frame multiplexers onto a frame from terminal equipments 5, 51, 52, with pre-stage channel switches 8, 81 setting optionally cross reference between incoming channels 6, 61, 62 and frame multiplexer sections 2, 21 or outgoing channels 7, 71, 72, and/or with post-stage channel switches 9, 91, 92 setting optionally cross reference between the frame multiplexer sections 2, 21 and the outgoing channels 7, 71, 72. In the packet traffic multi-stage relay system, the outgoing channels 7, 71, 72 are switched to a packet exchange function section 3 or any other frame multiplexer sections by selecting at least any of the post-stage channel switches 9, 91, 92. Moreover, an outgoing channel is relayed directly to the other frame multiplexer not through a relevant multiplexer section by selecting any of the pre-stage channel switches 8, 81.</p>
