<p>PURPOSE: To reduce distortion around a still area with an image signal the motion of which is interpolated. CONSTITUTION: A still area detection circuit 12 detects an area including a still area in a moving area based on a motion vector detected by a motion vector detection circuit 10 and a zero vector replacement circuit 14 replaces the motion vector therearound with '0' vector. Thus, a field signal read out of motion correction memories 18, 20 and the motion vector of which is corrected at a motion vector correction circuit 16 at a field interpolation ratioαis read as a signal the motion of which is '0' around a still area in the motion area. As a result, an interpolation field signal outputted as a weight sum of a motion correction field signal and a motion '0' field signal from a weight sum circuit 32 is a signal in which a still area in the motion area is surely at a standstill and then the weight sum with its surrounding motion is avoided. As a result, distortion due to spread of the still area to its surrounding or appearance of ghost in the still area is almost avoided in the image.</p> |
