The envelope, consists of a lower panel (20), an upper panel (21) which is adhesive on the back, and an anti-adhesive layer (3), e.g. of silicone, which covers the central portion of the adhesive backing, leaving an adhesive edge for attaching to the lower panel. The upper panel and anti-adhesive layer are transparent, giving a view of a label or document (4) enclosed in the pouch formed between the upper and lower panels. The envelope is made by applying the various layers on top of one another from rolls, with the finished product in the form of a continuous strip on a peel-off backing.
